Every figure on this site is an estimate for general information, produced by applying the published UK tax rules to the numbers you enter. It is not tax advice, financial advice, legal advice or accountancy services, and it does not create any adviser–client relationship.
1. Why an accurate calculator is still an estimate
- Tax codes. We assume the standard code (1257L). Millions of people have a different one, from benefits in kind, underpaid tax being clawed back, or transferred allowances, and the code changes the result.
- Payroll timing. PAYE is calculated cumulatively through the year; joining mid-year, bonuses and pay rises shift individual payslips even when the annual figure matches.
- Circumstances. Multiple jobs, self-employment income, benefits in kind, childcare schemes, the High Income Child Benefit Charge and similar are outside what the calculator models.
2. What we do promise
That the rates, thresholds and allowances the engine uses were read from GOV.UK, with the verification date and every source linked on the sources section, and that the arithmetic applying them is tested. If you find a figure you believe is wrong, write to info@income-tax.co.uk and it will be checked against the source.
3. Decisions
Do not rely on this site alone for decisions with money attached, mortgages, contracts, salary negotiations, tax planning. Check your tax code with HMRC or take regulated advice for your situation.
